River First Nation Band administration office, starting as soon as possible. HRFN is currently accepting
applications for a caring, organized and detail-oriented individual to become the Social Development Worker to
join our team.
Under the supervision of the Band Manager, the Social Development Worker administers the Income
Assistance Program under Indigenous Services Canada for HRFN members, ensuring access to social
assistance services. This role plays a vital part in enhancing the well-being of individuals and families by
offering culturally appropriate support, case management, and community programming. It also facilitates
access to social and employment programs for unemployed individuals, low-income families, and persons with
disabilities, promoting self-sufficiency and economic stability.
The Social Development Worker oversees the direction, management, and delivery of social programs and
services, including youth, child, and family programs. The position assists band members with social and
financial issues such as unemployment, addictions, family matters, and skills development while also
supporting clients in achieving financial independence through employment. This includes providing
information on services such as childcare, training, counseling, employment opportunities, and resources for
people with disabilities.
The Social Development Worker frequently collaborates with other HRFN departments, such as education and
health, to align efforts, develop joint initiatives, and enhance program delivery for community members.
Additionally, the Social Development Worker develops and coordinates initiatives, funding proposals, and
reporting while managing budgets, expenses, and policies. The incumbent works closely with other
departments, Chief and Council, government agencies, and external organizations to ensure the effective
execution and continuous improvement of HRFN’s social development programs.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a diploma or degree in Social Services
preferably within a First Nation community and at least one year of relevant experience and will demonstrate
reliability, punctuality, and dependability. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and
familiarity with other computer programs are essential. The candidate should also possess excellent verbal and
written communication skills.
