Education Department

Empowering every HRFN member โ€” from early childhood to post-secondary โ€” to reach their educational aspirations while honouring our culture and language.

๐ŸŒŸ Welcome

Welcome to the Halfway River First Nation’s Education Department. We are dedicated to empowering our community members to reach their educational goals and aspirations through the delivery of exceptional educational programs and services.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to providing comprehensive education services for community members at all stages of their academic journey. Education is not just a tool for personal advancement; it is a means to promote and strengthen our rich culture and language.

๐ŸŒฑ Our Approach

Empowerment through education forms the cornerstone of our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for First Nations citizens. Our focus extends beyond academic achievement; it encompasses the preservation and reinforcement of our unique cultural heritage and language.

Our holistic approach to education reflects our belief that meaningful opportunities for growth and improvement should be accessible to all. We work collaboratively with students, parents, and community members to tailor education planning and programming to meet individual needs, starting from daycare and extending far beyond.

๐Ÿค Local Education Agreement

The Education Department is steadfast in its commitment to helping our members achieve their educational aspirations. We proudly support students attending a diverse array of educational institutions, ensuring that the path to knowledge is as diverse as our community.

The Local Education Agreement (LEA) signed between HRFN and School District 60 is designed to prepare students for post-secondary education or the workforce, fostering self-identity, self-reliance, and a lifelong love for learning. Recognizing that the responsibility for education lies with the Band, we believe the responsibility for learning belongs to the student.
