Building a Strong Workforce
The Human Resources Department at Halfway River First Nation is dedicated to building a strong, informed, and well-supported workforce. We ensure every HRFN employee has the tools, policies, and opportunities they need to thrive in their roles while serving our community with excellence.
Human Resources is about more than policies and procedures β it is about supporting people, building respectful relationships, and helping create a healthy workplace community. Throughout the year, HR work involves ongoing conversations, training, review, and improvement to help ensure employees, leadership, and the organization are informed, supported, and working within current policies, laws, and best practices.
Policy Development & Updates
Considerable time has been spent working to update and, in some cases, develop new policies for Human Resources. This important accomplishment provides employees with current, clear, consistent, and fair policies. Keeping policies current leads to greater transparency and accountability and helps to ensure that employees know their rights and responsibilities in service to the Nation and its members.
Performance & Professional Growth
By collaborating and working with each staff member to better understand their roles, we have updated key processes. This year, we achieved 100% completion of annual performance reviews across all employees, along with setting goals and identifying skills and knowledge training needed for career progression. We will continue to work towards planning for HRFN’s future and supporting our staff so they can support our community members.
